Tip #2 Tree Placement
It is equally important to cut 2 inches off at the base of the trunk before it is ready to be placed in the stand.
Ensure the tree is 3 plus feet away from any heat source. Due to 1 in 5 tree fires are caused by the tree being too close to a heat source such as candles, fireplaces or radiators.
Fill the tree stand with plenty of water and make sure to water daily.
Tip #3 Let There Be Light
To string up your tree, use lights that have been quality tested. You should pay attention to the tag next to the plug-in to see if lights are suitable for indoor/outdoor use. Outdoor lights can be used inside, but indoor lights are not for outdoor use.
Inspect strands of lights for loose bulb connections and broken or worn cords. Replace these strands to ensure the safety of your lighting system. Be sure to check out the manufacturer’s instructions to see the limit of how many strands can be connected. As a matter of fact, electrical problems cause 1/3 of Christmas tree fires. Lastly, you should always make sure to turn off Christmas tree lights before leaving the house or tucking yourself into bed.
